When we are on the grind we hunt for resources guide us in our journey. Sometimes we need to hear about individuals overcoming odds, sometimes we need actionable steps to take, or sometimes we need someone to gives us more information to spark creativity.
My number one resource has always been books. I listen to podcasts, and read blogs too, but love a good book. Here a few books, from my bookshelf, that will hopefully give you the guidance you require.
So, here we go! Get ready to dive in to your success!
1. Thrive by Arianna Huffington
Thrive has been a hit since it was published in 2015. Arianna Huffington advocates a change in what society sees as success. Ladies, this will help you expand your definition of success. She advocates well-being, which I think is necessary for anyone to maintain happiness regardless of where you are in your journey.
2. High Performance Habits by Brendon Buchard
Brendon Buchard discusses the six habits that will help you achieve long-term success and well-being regardless of your age, career, strengths or personality. The six habits are seek clarity, generate energy, raise necessity, increase productivity, develop influence, and demonstrate courage. Buchard explains how to nurture these habits and maintain them.
3. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
This self-help book is for those who desperately want to improve their lives. The back cover describes what you will get out of the book, " By the end of You Are a Badass, you understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can't change, how to change what you don't love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass." Definitely a fun and entertaining read.
4. Expectation Hangover by Christine Hassler
Christine Hassler changed the way I set up expectations with this one. After you have a win or have a failure and don't feel the excitement you thought you would or feel disgruntled about it, this book helps you reset and realize that you have to change your expectation to change the emotional outcome. There are tons of exercises that can help many different situations from career to relationships.
5. Self Coaching 101 by Brooke Castillo
If you have ever wanted to be able to control you emotions and change the way you think, this book is for you. Brooke Castillo breaks down how thoughts lead to feelings and how to change it. Each step is explained with plenty of examples to help you analyze what thoughts cause your negative emotions.
6. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
This is a fun read. You will learn about habits for yourself and habits in larger settings like work or your community. Duhigg has in depth examples to understand how habits are formed, maintained and changed. If you wonder why some habits are easy to maintain and others never stick, this book explains the actions necessary for a successful habit.
7. The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
This book is known by many creatives as a corner stone in maintaining creativity. But, what ever position you have, career you are in, or path you walk this book is about nurturing the spark within. Julia Cameron shows you that creativity is never lost, and all you need is a consistent habit of morning pages to drain yourself of negative thoughts for your inner goodness to shine.
8. The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor
Shawn Achor is a professor and uses actual data to prove what activities, exercises, and processes improve happiness. Everyone wants to be happier and this book actually gives you actionable steps to do that. Achor gives fun examples and explains interesting studies that lead to insight in ways to be happier no matter where you are in life.
9. The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle Laporte
If you are questioning your path or your desires this book will help you figure out what exactly you are looking for. You will discover your purpose and true calling. Danielle Laporte also has you create a brand of who you want to be, after you discover it and how you will conquer fears and issues in your way. Her goal is for you to discover a purpose that moves you into action. There are plenty of great exercises for everyone, no matter where you are in the journey of discovery.
10. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
If you haven't noticed there is a morning routine craze going on. This book is the one got me on it a couple of years ago. Hal Elrod tells his story and how the morning is the perfect time to set your brain straight for the day and your goals. From personal experience I can say that the morning can be a powerful time to nurture growth and solidify habits.
