This has often been a remedy that my grandmother offers when I am unable to fall asleep. A nice night time herbal tea to sooth you and relax you before bed.

Herbal Teas for Sleep

Chamomile

The chamomile flower has daisy-like flowers that are used to make tea and herbal supplement. German Chamomile has therapeutic properties helpful in combating sleeplessness. Limit this tea to one cup a night. In concentrated form, having too much of this tea can lead to vomiting.

Recipe:

  1. Place 1 teabag or heaping teaspoon of loose leaf tea in a cup.
  2. Pour in 8 oz of hot water. Allow tea to steep for 5 minutes if in a bag, 10 minutes for loose leaf. Cover with a plate or lid.
  3. Remove the bag and strain the tea. Add lemon, honey or mint to taste.

Chamomile has a sweet, flowery taste. I enjoy my chamomile by itself.
